Things I Love Thursday 11-4-10

The highlight of the week was spending quality time with Katie and Elizabeth.

My god. there is nothing quite like the feeling of being in the presence of friends who accept, honor, and encourage me despite having been out of contact for YEARS. I love them deeply, as I do all the SI folk. I expected to be rehashing old memories together, and though there was some of that, mostly we talked about the present. We listened, advised, consoled, laughed, teased, and empathized. I am so grateful for the friends in my life whether distanced by time or space and for those I have yet to meet! For goodness sake, I had no idea these people were alive three years ago…Imagine who I have yet to meet!

This quote also tops my weekly list:

There comes a time to fight your way out of purgatory. Assess what you learned, bow to your healing process, and tear off the band-aids. Burn things. This is the time to make announcements and head out into the world even if your skin is a bit tender, even if you are limping now.

You bust out of the in-between when you declare that you.have.decided.to.live. No matter what. Such as you are, you are here, and you are ready for more.

God, she’s good.

And, to round out the top three, HaLLOwEEn!!! What a treat it was to dress up not once, but twice for the big night and attend not one, not two, but three parties in celebration! I didn’t dress up or go out last year and I was ready to make up for lost time. The whole weekend was an absolute blast and all the dancing I did left my body fatigued and sore – in the best way possible. 🙂

Check out my costume #1: Leopard-Lady!

Left to Right: Peacock, Lady Gaga, Leopard LadyHow cute are we? I love my office ladies! Nicole and Ellen threw an amazing shindig on Friday – chocolate fountain, disco lights, and haunted barn included…

When I get pictures of costume #2 I’ll be sure to update this post. It was my favorite…Geisha to the max! I have a beautiful gold kimono style dress that was a hand-me-down from my cousin years and years ago (middle school maybe?). I’ve never been able to fit into it–that is, until now! I had a secret New Year’s resolution to wear it this Halloween and lo, without really focusing on the goal at all it came to fruition! Now that’s awesome.

Sparkles and glitter:

a 2-hour bonanza call with Molly – that’s how we roll… the GORGEOUS sunrises every frickin morning (Soon soon soon I will have a camera so I can share these moments with you – or better yet, come visit me)…Home brewed coffee called LoveBuzz…hiking with LaLa and Olga…Omming in the middle of the trees… Playing with arm balances and wowing myself into awe…remembering my dreams…rearranging the office so we all have tons more space…

How was your holiday weekend?

Katie T is here doing the YTT, Elizabeth came for a couple days and now Maria is here for a program! It’s been such fun to be back in touch…Hope you’re well!

  2. Grandma says:

I have the time to day to just sit and do the little things that I usually never even think about doing. Nothing profound you understand. Just reflecting on the blessings of my life and the ability to realize so many of the important things. Our home is so quiet. So wonderfully peaceful. We had a great time sharing the past few days first with Ronna and B ill. they came in on Wednesday and we went to the Crocker to see it’s new galleries. Amazing. Then for Thanksgiving to be with your mom and Dad in their brightly happyily newly painted house. And yesterday to go to the Governor’s Mansion with Steven, your mother and Gable. No rush for anything. Today for the past hour, I have been reading and deleting emails. Sort of “cleaning up my act” The best thing was remembering that I have wanted to read your blog and have not taken the time to do it before. I feel so close to you dear heart. You too sound as if you are quiet with your thoughts and your surroundings. I am happy for you but of course I never quite am ready for th e extended time we are apart. Last night Grandpa and I went to temple for Harry and Grandpa Manny’s Yahrzeight.. I am used to having you beside me for those times importanat in our lives and I truly miss that. however I am thankfult hat we talked this week and now I am trying to connect with you not knowing if you are able to do that with out your computer. I send you hugs and kisses and my prayers for your continued well being love Grandma
