It’s that time of year again! For the 5th year running, the WordxWord Festival has arrived in the Berkshires. As the website states, the festival aims to “celebrate the transformative power of words” through poetry, story, and song. Nationally known (and nationally adored) poets and storytellers descend to the ‘shire to delight in the stunning display and sometimes utter silliness that is a bar full of writers, readers, and logophiles.
Last weekend Simeon and I helped kick off the week-long festival at their fundraising event, which this year was held on the rooftop of a multi-use building. The Greystone Building houses apartments (including the brand new home of my dear friends!) as well as a couple of favorite local hangouts.
This is Jon Sands. He’s a fave.
The night was incredible – the weather cool, the view breathtaking, the company friendly and the poetry clever. I enjoyed myself to light hors d’oeuvres and local beer (after downing a homemade mojito at the pre-party housewarming downstairs as evidenced below).
Most fun of all was watching Simmy do his thing – beat boxing on stage right after the poets gave their performances and just before the all-out all night dance rage. He’s so talented. I can’t get enough.
It was a date night celebration and word bonanza all wrapped up into one lovely evening on the rooftop with friends. What more could you ask for from a warm summer night?
